Van Alstyne Fire/Rescue’s commitment to the citizens and visitors of the City of Van Alstyne is unmatched by any. All VAFR personnel hold themselves to the highest degree of technical excellence, respect and compassion for all, and will be competent in all facets of their chosen profession. The Department strives to remain aware of the responsibility it has been charged with and will always be professional while carrying out associated tasks, regardless of how large or small they may be. As the organization continues to grow, the uniqueness of the level of service required continues to expand. The Department embraces the privilege of responding to such challenges and shall continue to provide the highest level of care to the citizens and visitors of the City of Van Alstyne.
Van Alstyne Fire/Rescue was established in 1889 and is currently a combination department comprised of the Fire Chief, 15 full-time personnel, and 2 volunteers. The department operates an Engine, MICU ambulance, and a brush truck. Van Alstyne Fire/Rescue provides fire and emergency medical services to the City of Van Alstyne as well as contracted portions of Grayson County. In addition to emergency response, the department is also responsible for fire prevention, fire investigation, public education, and emergency management. Last year, Van Alstyne Fire/Rescue responded to 2015 calls for service.

Annual Business Inspections
Please complete the Annual Fire Registration Form and contact City Hall for more information on annual business inspections.
Fire Education
The Van Alstyne Fire Department is available to present programs on fire safety to your school or organization.
Please feel free to call us at the fire station.
Fire Sprinklers
Bureau Veritas performs all system plan reviews and inspections. For more information, please see our Permitting page.
Investigations
The City of Van Alstyne Fire Department has an in-house investigations team. If you would like to know more, please contact the fire station.
Notify us of a Controlled Burn
If you would like to have a controlled burn please follow all laws and guidelines:
Controlled burns are not allowed inside the city limits of Van Alstyne.
Controlled burns are not allowed inside the city limits of Van Alstyne.
- Controlled burns are also not allowed during burn bans.
- Only certain items are allowed to be burned.

Because conditions change, notify us on the day of your burn. If you are burning for more than one day, please notify us on each day you are burning.
