Welcome to the Van Alstyne Comprehensive Plan 2035! This plan is our long-term vision for the future of Van Alstyne. Our goal is to ensure thoughtful growth, enhance quality of life, and promote sustainability for all community members. This page provides updates on our progress, explains how the plan is developed, and details how you can get involved.

A Comprehensive Plan is a strategic document that guides the physical and economic growth of our city. It addresses various topics such as land use, housing, transportation, and community services, all to create a roadmap for Van Alstyne’s future.

Developing this plan involves multiple phases, including research, community input, drafting, and review.  In October 2023, the City submitted a grant to the Texas General Land Office, Resilient Communities Program (RCP), related to Comprehensive Planning Services.  In March, 2024 the City was awarded the grant and selected Public Management Incorporated (PMI) as the managing consultant.  Since that time, PMI has been conducting field work and began compiling base studies, the results of which may be found here, Van Alstyne Comprehensive Plan.  The next phase of the process involves community outreach, in the form of a survey (please see the link at the top of this page) and series of town hall meetings. The process is expected to be completed in late 2025.  The timeline below will help you track where we are in the process and what comes next.

We believe community input is essential to a successful plan. Join us in shaping Van Alstyne's future by participating in community meetings, surveys, and workshops.

There will be a minimum of three (3) town hall meetings throughout 2025, once meetings are scheduled this webpage will be updated with meeting information.
