Emergency Conservation Order

Today, the city had a main water line damaged by a contractor. The crews have fixed the water leak. The #6 well’s booster pump went down making the CGMA water system unavailable because we cannot transfer water from the CGMA system to the city water system. The #4 well’s electrical panel caught on fire this afternoon causing extensive damage, making this pump unavailable until repairs and parts can be located.

The City is issuing an Emergency Conservation Order to make citizens aware of conservation measures and prohibit outdoor watering until notified. There is a limited water supply and everyone should use caution with any excess use.

The current levels do not require a boil order at this time. Crews are monitoring the system and will keep citizens informed if additional measures are needed.

2018 Street Repairs

Monday, March 19, 2018 Grayson County Road Crews will begin their rebuild plan in Van Alstyne. The roads this year will be Valley St, East Shreveport, East Austin, West Fulton (from Dallas to Wilkins), Dallas Ave (from Fulton south to Hynds) and Kelley (from Houston south to the service road). They will also do spot repairs and seal coat McKinney Circle.

This work will require periodic road closures. Crews will work to keep those as short as possible, but please have patience and use alternate routes as much as possible.

The biggest disruption will be on Kelley Lane. Crews will not start work here for a few weeks and will post signs at each end when we confirm the start date. This work will require complete workday road closure for a day or two, but the road will be open overnight. More to come as we get closer to that project.

NOTICE to Boil Water – RESCINDED

BOIL ORDER LIFTED 02-01-2018

City of Van Alstyne
Public Notice to Boil Water

Due to water main break and loss of pressure, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) has required our water system City of Van Alstyne/ 0910009 to notify customers on Hill Street of the need to boil their water prior to consumption.

To ensure destruction of all harmful bacteria and other microbes, water for drinking, cooking, and making ice should be boiled and cooled prior to use. The water should be brought to a vigorous, rolling boil and then boiled for two minutes. In lieu of boiling, you may purchase bottled water or obtain water from some other suitable source.

When it is no longer necessary to boil the water, the water system officials will notify you that the water is safe for consumption. Instructions to discontinue boiling will be issued in the same manner as this notice.

If you have questions concerning this matter, you may contact Steve White, Director of Public Works, 903-819 3176

If a customer wishes to contact the TCEQ, they may call 512-239-4691.
