Teen Council is the Young Adult face of the Van Alstyne Public Library. We bring other teens to the library by hosting fun and productive events that we create and plan. We’re here to make sure that our library is meeting the needs of the Young Adult population of our community and that our young adults are helping our library be the best it can be. We help the library by shelving books, volunteering where needed, and representing the library in our community.
We have fun no matter what we do and that’s what makes us Teen Council. Some of our past events have been a Gaming Tournament, Poetry Nights, Art Contest, and a Halloween Dance. We know how to have a good time – we also have a serious side. In years past we have held seminars that have addressed issues such as depression, drug abuse, stress, and other issues that affect teens.
Not only is Teen Council enjoyable, but it’s also rewarding! You receive community service hours for your work at events and are often featured in local papers. Who wouldn’t want to join!?
Teen Council is made up of 13-19 year olds from Van Alstyne and the surrounding communities. We’d love for you to stop by this Monday from 4-5:30pm and see what we’re all about.
