Notice of Public Hearing: Shared Use Path, Phase II

TXDOT has made a call for projects for the 2017 Transportation Set-Aside program that is used to fund alternative transportation projects for non-vehicular traffic. This program provides an 80-20 (federal/state- city) match for projects identified through the selection process.

The City of Van Alstyne submitted a request for funding in May 2017 and has successfully made it through the first few rounds of project selection. The city is proposing that Phase 2 of the Shared Use Path serve the new Bob and Lola Sanford Elementary School. The project includes approximately 1, 370 linear feet of 12’-wide concrete path from SH 5 (Waco St.) along the proposed roadway serving the elementary school that also includes a pedestrian activated crossing in front of the school.

The City of Van Alstyne City Council will conduct a Public Hearing at a special called meeting on Monday, September 25, 2017 at 6:30pm at the Van Alstyne Community Center located at 262 N Preston Ave to hear your comments for or against the proposed path.
