We are very excited to have you experience it for yourself.

Online Utility Payments

One of our City website pages directs users to an external website where customers can pay their water bills using a credit card. The payment processor’s website has a “log out” button, and this logout button linked to the city’s old website address — not to cityofvanalstyne.us, but to an address that the city used years ago. The City has not been in possession of this address / domain name for several years and in the meantime, someone else acquired it and placed a page with objectionable links on it.

Our payment processing vendor has now corrected the link. The City of Van Alstyne’s official website was not compromised. We thank you for bringing this to our attention.

UPDATE – as of 7:05PM on October 27, 2016 the water main break is repaired. This was a 4 inch steel water main.
East Jefferson (FM121) will be closed between Pearl and Valley until the roadway can be repaired. Please use caution and follow detour signs.

UPDATE – November 1, 2016 – Public Works is working to clean up the leak site and add base rock to the roadway to allow for vehicle traffic.  This will be a temporary fix to open E. Jefferson St. (FM 121) until asphalt can be added.

Welcome to Our New Website!

The City of Van Alstyne is pleased to announce the launch of our new website at CityofVanAlstyne.us.

Completely redesigning the four-year-old site gave us the opportunity to reorganize and update all of the content.  With our city experiencing rapid growth, we hope that newcomers find a welcoming portal to all the information they need to live and work in Van Alstyne.

New and long-time residents and business owners will easily find information on services, utility hookups, permitting, and local amenities such as our LibraryMuseum, Senior Center, parks, and schools. Customers may also pay water bills, ambulance bills and citations online.

We value transparency and public participation; therefore, Open Government is at the forefront of the site’s navigation.

News, events, board meetings and career opportunities are more visible and easy to share on social media.

New Features:

  • Mobile and tablet-friendly design
  • Full-text search
  • How do I?” page for frequently asked questions
  • Accessibility for people with visual and motor disabilities
  • Monthly Mayor’s newsletter
  • Non-profit organizations, schools and churches in the Van Alstyne ISD area may submit events to the calendar
  • SSL encryption for security

But, we are not finished yet.

We are planning to add more features during the 2016-7 fiscal year:

  • A new system for residents to submit and track problems with water, wastewater, parks, residential trash service, animal control and streets
  • Resident and business sign-up for text notifications of both emergencies and non-emergencies.

The City of Van Alstyne contracted with Sheep Boutique of Van Alstyne, an agency specializing in government and nonprofit communications.

We look forward to continuing to use our new site to keep our residents and businesses informed. Please get in touch with any questions or suggestions.
